SC Mentor Darling Downs Region
ICTPL Accredited Facilitator
Facilitator CIC for ICTPL online
The year 2008 began with a long absence from teaching due to a severe illness which necessitated surgical intevention and long term therapy. During my recuperation, to stay focussed and positive, I continued my study for my Masters in Education Technology (online) through USQ, completed the Accredited Facilitator course and the Mentoring Online Course with Education Queensland. Following my return to work, my rehabilitation program has included teacher professional development, within our school, region and an online Education Queensland community.
With teaching professional development in mind, I created the online unit "Participate in Occupational Health and Safety procedures" for my masters course FET8610 Create Educational Web Environments.. The online course was designed to cater for the different learning styles of students and used sound teaching pedagogy. It was developed to guide teachers through the process of using blackboard and its communication tools. This unit was to be used by school teaching staff while I was on leave. I communicated with teaching staff and students through email and blackboard.
ICT roles:
- Continued teaching Year 10,11 and 12 Business and Information Technology classes.
- Created a Blackboard community for staff members to contribute and be involved in professional discussions and share information regarding ICT use within the school. I contribute quality resources to distribute to staff. Staff are then able to read, discuss, evaluate, collaborate and integrate many of these ideas into their classroom.
- Presented SCPD Framework at a staff meeting. Presently I am preparing teaching staff in after school small group to undertake the ICT Pedagogical Licence process next year. I am mentoring on ways to integrate ICT’s into their classrooms and collectively we are developing ideas, strategies and resources to begin portfolios.
- Co facilitator for the CIC course has developed my mentoring online skills with Queensland teaching staff.
- My present role of Smart Classroom mentor for the Darling Downs region has me compiling resources for the Darling Down technology website which includes online learning resources and e-learning resources. My participation in my online communities has help me in creating these websites.
- Helped complete the School ICT Census.
- Created and developed the school website
