
Finance Role
Before you begin this activity you will be required to find out how to set up Microsoft Outlook for your email. List the steps in a word document so other work colleagues can set up their emails.
Task 1:
Part A: Create Logo
- You have used a Microsoft file format to create your logo. The embroiderer will not accept a Microsoft file format. Find a suitable file format and convert your design.
- This file must be compressed before sending to the supplier.
- Save your logo as a jpeg or gif image to use in further software applications for Lorikeet Lodge.
- Email a copy to your other team members.
- With your team members select the team logo.
Part B: Letter to the embroiderer
- Lorikeet Lodge will need uniforms, restaurant items, manchester and souvineers embroidered with the new logo.
- You will need to source out embrodery businesses in the Gold Coast and hinterland area.
- Add these details to the database.
- Draft a letter of request for a quote to embroider 50 staff uniforms, 300 towels, 100 restaurant items and 200 souvineer items.
- Include in your request an estimated time of completion after the initial order has been placed.
- Inform potential suppliers that on 15 December this year, Lorikeet Lodge will be having a Grand Opening and all items in the initial order will need to be completed by that date.
- Request an email address to forward a digital copy of the logo copied as a pdf. file
- Your letter must briefly describe the new facilities and state that only high quality work will be accepted.
- Ask the company to send a sample of their embrodery for approval.
- On completion of this draft you are to attach and send a copy by email to Jack Thompson for his perusal. He also wishes to have a copy of the pdf file you create for your logo.

Task 2: Create a spreadsheet
You are to create a spreadsheet of the Income and Expenditure prior to refurbishment.
- This will be used by investors to compare and contrast the financial position of the new development.
- A graph will be needed to show a comparison of income and expenditure for the iformation provided.
- When completed you will seek your team members approval then attach and send as an email to Jack Thompson for his approval.
- You will file a copy of the spreadsheet for taxation purposes.


Task 3: Create a business card
Use your team logo and the corporate colour scheme to create a business card.
- This must include the mailing address, email, web address and phone number.
- The business card will be for Jack Thompson, owner manager of Lorikeet Lodge
- You will need to research good design principles needed to create a high quality business card.
- Team members may use this template for their own business card.

Task 4: Collection of information
Lorikeet Lodge needs an orderly way of collecting and storing icontact details and information about clients, suppliers etc. It must be easily accessible to all staff. Sometimes it will be necessary to find specific details and create reports. You will design a suitable recording process and add the information details of your embroidery suppliers. Your team members will also have information that will need to be stored. You may need to show them how to keep track of this information. The want to be able to use this information for creating mailmerge of documents. Ensuring the system functions is your responsibility.
Create reports which list you may see necessary for the upcoming Grand Opening.

Task 5: Photostory
You will create a photostory presentation to:
- be used on a closed circuit television in the gift shop
- show guests the natural beauty of the Lamington National Park and its exquisite beauty.
This will be saved in two formats:
- presentation format for TV
- email and webpage attachment

Task 6: Complete a daily work schedule
You are required to prepare daily work schedules. Compile a daily list of activities you wish to complete. At the end of the day it is necessary that you check off completed activities and make notes about how efficiently you worked. This will provide Jack Thompson with evidence of your industry and work ethic.

Task 7: Create a resume
You will need to update your resume for the Lorikeet Lodge board meeting using a template in your software program. Attached to your resume will be a letter of application. You are applying for a permanent position in which you are currently employed.

Task 8: Digital Portfolio
In order to present your portfolio to those members of the board who cannot make the meeting, Mr Thompson wants you to attach your activities to a digital portfolio and upload it to the internet.
Attached is a template for you to edit. Include a digital photo of yourself.

Task 9: Contribute to the creative design package
This is the area where you will convince the board that your independent work ethic and skills should be acknowledged with continued employment at Lorikeet Lodge.
You will use your creative design skills to contribute to the overall portfolio that your group is creating. You are to develop ideas to promote "Rainbow's Restaurant". You will participate in an oral group presentation of your design portfolio where you will have a two minute presentation to represent your ideas.

Task 10: Contribute to group discussion.
All members in your group will contribute to group discussion. You will show your communication skills by adding your ideas, comments and suggestions to wiki posts in The Learning Place. In these posts you will show your skills in contributing to individual and group goals. The quality of your discussion items will demonstrate to the board your ability to work effectively in a group. At the end of the webquest you are required to fill in the surveys located at the end of the evaluation page.
