Teachers as coaches

My role as a teacher is essentially to help students become independent learners.  To achieve this I see myself more as a "coach" or facilitator.

  • I integrate ICT by providing "scaffolding" to structure learning experiences and to help students achieve their desired goals.
  • I use constructive feedback to improve performance and encourage students to reflect upon their outcomes.
  • I believe productive learning should be shared, on-going, life-long, low stress and most importantly enjoyable.

In the classroom, we can all be students and teachers at the same time and to each other. There is no better example than the use of ICT within the curriculum to illustrate this point.

Collectively our ICT knowledge and skills is expansive, so discussion and sharing of this knowledge is extremely important, relevant and essential for optimal learning outcomes. Each of us offer a unique combination of experiences that are a valuable asset and a potential contribution to every class.
